Champagne Gifts: Perfect Accompaniments

In making a champagne gift basket, of course, there should be the champagne. But what other products go well with champagne to make the perfect champagne gift? Here are some suggestions to help you in planning for that ultimate celebratory present.

  1. Cheese – Champagne and cheeses are a classic combination and putting them together in a champagne gift is definitely a winner. To further up the ante on this combination, try having soft Brie, mild Cheddar, strong Colby, tangy Chevre, nutty Edam, or smooth Gouda as part of a cheese platter for your champagne gift package.
  2. Foie gras – This French favourite and champagne are truly a match made in heaven. The rich and savoury taste of the goose or duck liver goes very well with the light and bubbly taste of the champagne making it a great champagne gift combination especially for those out to really indulge themselves.
  3. Strawberries – Another classic combination and a very romantic one at that. Strawberries most often accompany champagnes in champagne gift baskets during Valentine’s because of the combination’s symbolism of passion, romance, and seduction. Try pairing the strawberries though with very sweet champagnes for a more dazzlingly delicious effect.
  4. Shortbread and Light Cookies – Shortbread and light cookies such as almond cookies are great accompaniments to champagne because they complement champagne’s light and bubbly character.
  5. Sushi – This may come as a surprise but yes, sushi goes very well with champagne. Because of its freshness and light character, sushi enables itself to also meld with the freshness of the champagne. However, if planning this combination for a champagne gift basket, make sure to have the sushi ready only on the same day to ensure quality and freshness. Stale sushi won’t do anyone any good even if it is paired with the best champagne.

Please be reminded that the suggestions above are but merely suggestions. It is still up to you and your taste buds to determine what is the best champagne and food combination for you or your loved ones.

The Best Gifts For Kids To Make Them Love You More Than Santa Claus

Who else are more excited than the children and kids when it comes to Christmas? The excitement comes alive with the Christmas spirit, looking out the frost covered windows, watching the snow blanket cover the ground, pine needle smells and sheer anticipation of the Santa and stockings of gifts and presents. With Christmas and winter signifying time for caring and sharing, giving and living, adults simply cannot help but truly enjoy shopping with these children and kids for the Christmas!

Despite the fact that shopping for kids and children during Christmas festival can be enjoyable and joyful, there are a lot of attention for details and considerations that need to be taken into account when it comes to selection of gifts and toys for the kids. The choice of toys is a very important component of your shopping process because the toys must appeal to your children or kids current developmental stage. Specifically the focus of concerns should be in the aspects of whether the toys are age appropriate, general fit of the toys to the living environment and concept, acceptability and appeal of the toys to the children and kids in general.

First of all, careful selection of toys must involve careful attention to the age appropriateness of the toys for the particular kid and child for the particular age group. Safety of the children must always come first. It is highly advisable that you exercise judgment as to the suitability of the toys using the age range recommendation by the suppliers on the toy packaging as a guideline in your selection process. Due to possible hazards caused by choking as the small children and kids have tendency to put and chew stuffs in their mouths, therefore, toys that are designated for play for the older kids are generally smaller in sizes and contain more loose and removable parts. While toys and games like this are suitable for play for older kids, they can be hazardous to the toddlers, babies and younger kids. It is equally important in the process of choosing toys to make sure that they are well made, of high quality and can handle lots of wear and tear. The fact that age designation toys are designed such that they are specially suitable for the children and kids of their ages specified because the complicated toys for the older children which can be too difficult to play and manage by the younger children easily frustrate them. On the other hand, simplistic baby games may get too dull for the growing or older children and would not stimulate their interest and fun at all.

Consideration of the living condition of the family as well as the childrens parents is also essential when evaluating the Christmas gift for kids. The specifics of the living environment that encompass the size of the living room, availability of empty space and garden size as well as the surrounding neighbourhood are few of those considerations to be accounted for. Toys can be tried out to see whether the noise level is appropriate for the child and whether it will affect the harmony of the neighbours particularly if one is living in an apartment. Large toys can be problematic when there is inadequate space at home to store it and indoor products such as foosball table can equally give similar headache with the spacing and storing problem. As a rule of thumb, smaller items which produce minimal noise level are the better gift ideas for your Christmas shopping for kids.

Other than the age appropriateness factor, personal beliefs and acceptability represent another dimension in shopping for the most appropriate Christmas gifts for the children for the season. Different multitudes of acceptability of the types and nature of toys and games by the parents can be seen from the consent given to their children and the childrens access to that particular toy and game. Ethical beliefs of parents and adults are important because they may find toys such as large guns and violent video games unacceptable and offensive because they believe that the presence of the violence element in these toys and games may lead their children astray in their upraising. The safest choice for the gift for these children where you cannot be certain of the beliefs and the feelings of their parents would be to avoid purchasing such items.

What is important in your decision making process during your Christmas shopping for the kids and children would be to involve their parents in the process. You will discover that your whole shopping would be a lot easier and relaxed than would be should you be doing the shopping all by yourself. Consulting the parents of the child can give you feedback regarding the interests and the types of toys that would engage their child. They may even know and tell you the exact type of toy from the childs wish list for the Christmas. By this, you will reap the benefit of getting the child what he or she wants best and not buying something that he or she already has or uninterested in at all.

Easter Basket History

It’s hard to imagine Easter without Easter baskets. Traditionally, these are filled with candy treats such as chocolates and jelly beans, usually in the shape of an egg. There may also be hollow plastic eggs with coins or other treats inside. But did you ever wonder where the whole idea of baskets on Easter came from in the first place?

Like the Easter holiday itself, the basket is the result of the confluence of several traditions from different cultures. Some of these stem from the Judeo-Christian tradition; others date back to pagan customs.

In ancient Europe, the vernal or spring equinox was a significant time. In the original home of the Indo-Aryan peoples – ancestors of most of the ethnic and linguistic groups of Europe as well as Armenia, Kurdistan, Iran, Afghanistan and India – winters were long and bitter. Spring was considered a time of renewal and rebirth.

Among Semitic-speaking peoples of the ancient Middle East – who include the Hebrews, Arabs, Babylonians, Assyrians and others – it was a tradition to bring the first seedlings of the growing season to the temples in order to insure a successful harvest. This connection to agriculture is also reflected in the holiday’s relationship to the cycles of the moon; it is always held on the Sunday (day of Sol Invictus, or the “Unconquerable Sun”) following the first full moon after the spring equinox. To early farmers, the phase of the moon was always significant in determining when to plant seeds.

The tradition of Easter gift baskets is really most closely connected to Western Christianity, however. In the Roman Catholic Church, Easter is only part of an entire season of rituals and observances that begin forty-six days prior to Easter itself. Many who have experienced the revelry of Mardi Gras or Carnivale don’t realize that the “Fat Tuesday” celebration represents a last chance to party before entering that period called Lent – when the devout are expected to fast and give up meat, eggs and dairy. Lent ends on Easter, hence the tradition of a large, sumptuous family meal. At one time, it was a tradition for Roman Catholic families to carry the food for Easter dinner to Mass in a basket, where it could be blessed by the priest – harking back to the ancient tradition of bringing first crops and seedlings to the temple.

German immigrants to the U.S. contributed their own customs. “Pennsylvania Dutch” children eagerly awaited the Osterhase to deliver eggs on Easter Sunday, which he would deposit on his “rabbit’s nest” – hence the tradition of lining Easter gift baskets with grass (or more commonly today, artificial decorative grass).

Although considered a religious holiday, Easter is really a universal expression of renewal and new beginnings.

Candy Bouquet: A Sweet Alternative to Flowers and Gift Baskets

A candy bouquet gives an interesting twist to the traditional act of giving a bouquet of flowers to send a thoughtful message. Although givers can still aim to send a message as with givers of flowers, these bouquets are an edible and tasty alternative. They are also more creative and unique than the norm. In addition to gift baskets, these sweet bouquets have become a popular gift option to creatively express one’s feelings, such as showing appreciation and love, or wanting to simply cheer someone up.

There is definitely no right or wrong in the way of arranging a bouquet of candies. However, it may indeed be themed to suit the receiver and the occasion. Unlike flowers, which require a different thought process regarding its underlying meaning, candies can taken at face value, without the same symbolisms that flowers are associated with. This is why they’re appropriate for any age. Health permitting anyone can enjoy these delightful treats.

In addition to being given as gifts, this bouquet of sweetness could also be an attractive centerpiece for different types of parties. It has been a popular option for birthdays, slumber parties, and even for corporate parties. Since it is a bouquet that almost everyone will surely enjoy, the market for this gift option has grown larger over the years.

A wonderful gift and centerpiece for almost any type of occasion or celebration, a candy bouquet is a delightful and sweet alternative to flowers or gift baskets.

Get Well Gifts That Soothe

When we find out our friends, clients, or colleagues are hospitalized, the first thought that comes to our mind is often to send them a get well gift to wish them a speedy recovery. Indeed, wishing friends and loved ones to get well soon is one of the common gift occasion. A heartfelt gift can cheer up the patient, make them feel being loved, and facilitate healing of the body. This article provides some ideas on selecting get well gifts for different situations.

In selecting a get well gift, some of the considerations are:

* Is the illness mild or serious?
* If the patient is hospitalized, how long will the hospital stay be?
* Does the patient have dietary restriction?

For individuals with mild illness, such as the flu, you may want to make them feel better by sending a basket filled with Chinese green tea, fresh honey, wheat wafers and a Swiss cheese triangle, mints, and golden walnut caramel cookies. Alternatively, you can send a gift basket which brings all kinds of treats to beat the blues. The container looks like a doctor’s medical bag and is filled with Gummi band aids, Get Well pills, fortune cookies, a ceramic mug, plus giant aspirin and popcorn that will amuse the recipients and cure what ails them.

For individuals diagnosed with serious illness, you may want to provide some spiritual support and send a gift basket that comes with a book of inspirational and uplifting stories of personal triumph. Included in the basket is a calming aromatherapy candle, appetizing chocolate drizzled biscotti, fruit and nut mix, herbal green tea, cinnamon vanilla tea, caramel nut caramel corn, and buttery crackers. This gift basket is especially appealing to women. For men, you can send a care package for someone going through rough time. The white gloss gift box is packed with green tea, Sunkist fruit gels, cookies, granola bars, peanut butter crackers, and word search puzzle book. The Hang in There plush monkey will sure to bring a smile, and the healthy treats will brighten his day.

They will know you care when they receive this thoughtful gift.

As mentioned previously, you need to find out how long the patient will be staying in the hospital before sending your gift. If you want to send the gift to the hospital, you have to be sure the recipient will not be discharged from the hospital already when the gift is delivered. Otherwise, it may be better to send the gift to the home of the recipient. For illnesses that require long recuperating period (as in major surgery), you may want to bring some sunshine and send a gift box filled with playing cards, Gummy band aides, Smiley face stress ball, Jelly Belly assorted jelly beans, shortbread cookies, crunchy caramel corn, and a teddy bear with a Get Well Soon message on its tee shirt. There is no doubting how happy this thoughtful care package will make them when they receive it.

For someone with strict dietary restriction, a nonfood gift may be appropriate. You can send a plush bear which delivers a heart warming voice message of goodwill and love to help your loved one to get better. The teddy bear will delight and inspire your loved one to feel better soon, and is appropriate for kids and adults. Alternatively, you can send a candy bouquet. This gift consists of a keepsake reusable ceramic mug for individauals who may need some cheering up with something sweet. The bouquet comes with a Get Well Soon pick and includes individually wrapped hard and soft candies. For individuals who cannot take in sugar, you can send sugar free candy bouquet. Alternatively, you can send fresh rose bouquet or a container garden which contains easy to grow seeds, nutrients, soil and a decorative leak-resistant bag that is used for its very own growing pot. The recipient Just have to plant, water and grow it all in the same container.

In addition to gifts with get well theme, you can send other gifts that the patient enjoys, for example, a soup gift basket. Also included in this gift is a box of California Orchards smoked almonds, Golden Walnut Fudge cookies, and some soothing gourmet green teas. This is a “feel good all over” gift.

Basketball Hoops – Accessories That Can Help You Improve Your Skills

Practicing basketball on a high quality hoop can be so much fun and a challenge. But did you know there are many accessories that can help you practice so when game time comes you are ready? These accessories help you develop your skills and when the pressure is on, you can use your improved skills to help your team succeed. Whether you are a serious player or just want to work on your skills, these accessories can help you.

It may seem like most of practice time should be spent practicing making baskets, but rebounding is just as important. Whether you are rebounding the ball from the other team or grabbing a rebound from your own team’s missed basket, rebound skills are important. A block-aid is an important accessory in aiding to build your rebound skills.

A block-aid is a device you put into the net that acts as an obstruction to the net. Obviously, when the net is blocked you will miss balls and have the opportunity to rebound. Using this device lets you focus solely on building your rebound skills. You don’t have to waste time making baskets and chasing balls. Improving your rebound skills will improve your overall game.

Another accessory that helps you build your skills is a return net. This net attaches to the back of your basketball hoop and reaches to the ground. When you make a basket, the ball bounces off the net and rolls back to you. You won’t have to run after balls so it really optimizes your free throw or three pointer practice time.

A similar accessory is a ball return. This device attaches to the goal and around the net. When you make a basket, the ball returns to you. This gives you the chance for uninterrupted repetition so it’s great for shooting drills. It doesn’t require any tools. It simply attaches to any rim.

Another accessory that can improve your skills is a basketball training ring. This metal ring attaches to the goal to make an opening that is smaller in diameter. How does this help? It allows you to make more shots and get used to throwing the ball into the center of the rim. It snaps onto any standard size rim so there are no tools required.

An important part of learning to score is picturing where the ball should be thrown before it goes in. A basketball shooting trainer is a device that fits four inches above the rim. It allows you to aim for that exact spot allowing the ball to fall into the center of the net. Most shooting trainers come with a ball return attached so you can practice shot after shot effortlessly.

Honing your basketball skills will make you a better team player. With just a few accessories added to your basketball hoop or goal, you can get the type of practice you need to improve your skills. So go ahead and challenge yourself and your skills with any of these great skill improving accessories.

A Talent Show Fundraiser For Elementary Schools

If you are looking for something fresh and fun to do in order to raise money for you school? Now you can add something to your list: a Talent Show!

Elementary schools have been looking and finding more and more kids that have a talent in singing, playing musical instruments, acting, performing magic tricks and gymnastics and other show off abilities. These extremely talented kids are looking for opportunities to show off their gifts to their friends and other students.

Talent shows are a tremendous way for children to show off their innate abilities and aptitudes. A talent show can be the stage to bring in funds for a fundraiser. There are many ways to put on a winning talent show for your fundraising event

Arranging a talent show fundraiser can be an enjoyable and exciting project to get involved in.  There are some steps you will want to follow to ensure that the show goes on with no problems and that your elementary school reaps the rewards of a successful talent show fundraiser.

The first step would be to create interest in participation for the school talent show.  Distribute flyers and posters containing information as to the date, place, time and registration fee for the competition.  It is recommended that the registration fee for the talent show be as low as possible to generate more contestants.

You will have set a definite time limit each contestant is allowed to be on stage. Make certain that everyone participating in the talent show is familiar with exactly how long they have to perform their talent for the school. You will have to instruct somebody to work a timer to make sure that the show is flowing. You want to make sure that not one student gets more time than the other. You can ensure this by having rehearsal before the show date.

You can charge an admission fee to the talent show fundraiser for everyone coming to see the show. Now that you charging a registration fee and an admission fee, you might want to have some refreshments available for the people who are enjoying the entertainment. Think about setting a time for a short intermission in the middle of the show, so that students and parents can visit the concession stand and not miss any of the performance. This will help build up your profits because many people will not only visit the concession stand before the show starts, but also during intermission. A break is the perfect way to entice them back for another treat and if you can have some goodies such as cookies, and drinks, that’s even better!
